Raythe Reign Advent! Dec 23 – “Raythe’s favorite music!”

rr-blog-advent-2016

What music does Raythe like?

First, it depends on what she’s doing.  If entertaining, she favors classic jazz and swing.  During this holiday, she’s discovered medieval Christmas songs (madrigals, chants, etc – which Kat recognized because she went to music school!)

But when writing or relaxing?  Her tastes are all over the spectrum, but she does have one constant: electronica with dark female vocals.

From December 1 – 24, we’re doing a “blog advent calendar” just for something a little different.  You read our fun fact – now tell us yours:

Do you have siblings?

I’m like Raythe in liking music. I can listen to about anything, but when I’m cleaning house I like fast up beat music. I feel like I can clean faster that way. Plus it makes the cleaning more fun.

I have a brother who is younger than me. Who works as a Assistant Librarian at the Public Library.

Got siblings both by choice and by birth. Its fun. One actually was a stellar physicist for a while and another was a captain / pirate dude. One sold couches. Life takes us strange places.

I like a lot of music from random countries and types. electronica from Italy, german punk metal. And if I need to craft – like hit things with hammers and weirdly, sew, I listen to Nordic modern swing.

Turns out I’m glad that I don’t speak Swedish. for the most part their songs are awesome, but sometimes I object slightly to what the lyrics actually say. But when its just “awesome noise” I like it quite a bit, and it gives me a huge bunch of energy.

And in the interests of the creepy, awesome cold season:

one of my favorite medieval pieces of music. creepy as all hell.

If left to my own devices, I actually listen to upbeat silly pop music, and less well known indie stuff. Really like Imogen Heap, if people haven’t heard of her. She’s lovely. Lots of celtic, lots of classical music.

I’m a big fan of Renaissance music – go to Christmas concerts every year.

Zen2Go – there’s this amazing Cathedral in my city (one of at least 3) that does candle-lit concerts of Handel, Bach, Brahms and the like for Easter and Christmas. Its AMAAAAZING. Nothing like sitting in the cold, pitch dark of a forbidding, stunning church, and having a singing woman come striding down carrying an honest-to-golly torch to light up the world. From that single source we all light our candles and sing. Its… well… not being Christian, its an odd thing to go and “worship” but I mostly go because the spirits move me. Not so sure about the Holy Spirit, but I can 100% be positive that there is life and magic and wonderfulness in everyone when we all banish the night together.

Its… fun? Sure. We’ll call it fun.

I have two older sisters and one younger brother. I had mailed off a package of Christmas gifts last week to my eldest sister and her family. Don’t ever really know what to get my second older sister for Christmas, maybe next year I’ll get something for her Yorkie dog (my furry niece lol). But my brother is very easy to shop for just give him an Amazon gift card and he’ll be golden! Though I really like R&B my taste in music I think is quite eclectic just a little all over the place, but I refuse to listen to Country, heavy metal or anything similar that genre of music. There may be a couple of others but I can’t think of their names though.

I listen to a lot of different music, too. Lately it has been nothing but Lindsey Sterling and old Disney songs. Within the last two weeks “History Maker” from YOI has been added to my playlist. Lol.

I’m an only child and, while it has its perks, it generally sucks dino dicks. Especially as an adult.

Haha I’ve also been listening A LOT to “History Maker” and other Yuri On Ice songs for the last few weeks ^^ I don’t even like the anime that much (though I’ve watched everything because it was sooo nice to FINALLY see an official gay couple in a sport anime), but I really like the music.
And I love Lindsey too! (you might have noticed I put her music on my GNT fan video 😉 )

Other than that I listen to different kinds of music, a lot of which I find on Youtube.

I’m all over the place with music. My dad played a lot of oldies records growing up, and I was a fan of ‘Glee’, so a lot of classics. Hymns from when I was a kid. Game soundtracks (‘The Witcher 3’ theme, ‘Fallout 4’ theme and ‘Dragon Age: Origins’ I Am The One, to name a few go to songs). Songs in languages I don’t speak are mostly relaxing. But mostly whatever strikes my cord at the moment gets the top spot. That and ‘Evanescence’ My Immortal and Good Enough, for personal reasons each.

I’ve already said I have a half older sister, one older brother, and two younger brothers in another post. I’m tight enough with all of them, but my youngest bro and I are the closest. He also introduces me to a great deal of music and he plays at least four different instruments including three types of ukulele. Did you know you can play just about anything on those things including rap? I didn’t until he showed me. Amazing!
