Raythe Reign Advent: Dec 22 – “Who is Raythe’s favorite Sherlock Holmes?”

rr-blog-advent-2016

Who is Raythe’s favorite Sherlock Holmes actor?

While BBC’s Sherlock brought the detective to a fresh new audience, both Kat and Raythe are mystery story nerds and were reading Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s stories long before this.  Like many Holmes fans, Raythe’s favorite on-screen Sherlock is Jeremy Brett, followed by Robert Downey Jr.’s movies.

(Kat is not a watcher of anything and hasn’t seen Jeremy Brett in anything.  She has seen one Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock movie and all of one episode of BBC Sherlock.  It took her 3 days to get through it, too…)

From December 1 – 24, we’re doing a “blog advent calendar” just for something a little different.  You read our fun fact – now tell us yours:

Born in Canada, live in the USA.

Personally, love Cumberbatch and that guy who plays the role in Elementary. Not a big fan of Robert Downey, Jr’s portrayal of the role. Too much of the comedy, not enough of the darker side of Holmes’ personality. But I guess we blame the writers for that. Like him as Tony Stark, though.

    Live in North East Scotland!

Jeremy Brett will always be my favourite Holmes. He was so over the top! I remember watching Sherlock Holmes episodes as a kid and just loving them.

I also loved the version of hound of the Baskervilles done by Hammer Studios. It had Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee in it – so it’s got to be good.

I’m afraid to say this but I loathe Robert Downey Jr and can’t have anything to do with films he’s in. He was also far too young to play Holmes.

Atlanta Ga USA…. Jeremy Brett is my all time favorite. I watch every episode and my oldest daughter knew what time it was when she heard the theme music. Benedict C is really good too.

I really love Cumberbatch in Sherlock. I didn’t like Robert Downey Jr’s Sherlock movies that much, but he’s awesome as Tony Stark. I think I saw some of Jeremy Brett’s Sherlock Holmes when I was a kid but I really don’t remember much of it so I can’t judge! I need to see those again.

And I live in France!! 🙂

My Sherlock is Jonny Lee Miller, from ‘Elementary’. Most everyone else is okay. Jr. is better if you don’t think of him as Sherlock. Watson, on the other hand, will forever be Martin Freeman; I like him better than Holmes any day! ♥

I was born in Michigan, U.S. Moved all across the midwest when I was ten+. My favorite state so far is Kentucky, if only for the weather as I don’t like extream heat or cold. Currently living in Ohio because of family and finances. I don’t hate Ohio, but it’s flat. I like a few hills thank-you-very-much. Michigan is by far the prettiest. It’s like a cold Florida with all its marshes, but with hills! Florida was okay but most people were either very rich or very poor, not a lot of in-between.
