If Raythe Reign could write your ideal story, what would it be?

The Raythe Reign Team gets together and brainstorms when there’s an upcoming hole in the schedule.  It’s always a question – do we continue on in one of the fan-favorite worlds (like Ghost: Hong Kong Triad), or come up with something completely new (such as Valkyrie)?

magicbook2Raythe likes to tell certain kinds of stories, so we usually start with what she has ideas for.  The Erl-King / The Fell is that story that started RR — it was the story she told herself when she was 12, and it just got more elaborate and involved as time went on.  It was her “dream story,” a cherished saga that she imagined over and over in search of perfecting it.

We love that perfect match – when a writer tells exactly the kind of story you want to read.  You just slip into the story world, which becomes more real than your actual life.

Many authors – especially fantasy authors – do this same thing!  That’s why they talk about a book being “x number of years in the making.”

What’s your “dream story?”

We’d love to hear your idea of the perfect story.  If someone wrote a tale just for you, based on your personal likes and dislikes, and turn-ons and turn-offs, what would it be?

Is there something you imagine over and over, just as Raythe did with The Erl-King?  What elements are you just a sucker for?  (Kat’s weakness is pretty much anything that goes, “In a post-apocalyptic world filled with crime…”)

I’m a sucker for an lonely young man who is physically or emotionally abused by his parent or boyfriend. The hero (werewolf, warlock, whatever you want) who is new in town who later finds out what is happening to him to cause him to cut himself. Battle will be between the hero and the abuser(maybe they are supernatural creatures who kidnapped the boy when he was an infant) and hero wins. They fall in love. The end.

My favorite story of all Raythe’s publishing works is Ghost: Neo-Tokyo. Yes it set in Tokyo, which I love, but what really drew me in was the futuristic setting. Futuristic settings are my guilty pleasure and sometimes I think there’s not enough of them. Yes there’s stories in space how how many are actually just set a hundred or so years down the line.

I also love stories that contain ménage à trois or incest, maybe even a combination of both. The relationships between characters with forbidden love and any other problems that could come with dating more than one person. Emotions could be messy but I think a lot of good stories can come from either topics.

A combination of all of that would be my dream story.

I have been looking for a good M/M vampire Romance to read. After reading the Merman series I became addicted to your work

      Have you read Sanctuary yet?

oh gosh what can I say I love just about everything Raythe does but I’m a sucker from threesomes and jealousy, break up and make up scenarios, slight immaturity, cocky attitudes, but love when the cocky character realizes that they need that special person in their lives…but I’m hoping that Raythe decides to write something along the Genii/Jinni mythology. Magic is always awesome because you can really stretch your imagination. I just know Raythe would do an fantastic job of writing a Genie story!!

    • Rayne54 July 27, 2016 at 2:38 am #

A genie story would also be awesome. I also agree with you on the magic part.

I really love the merman series and also really enjoyed the ghost half. If it was similar to those two that would make me happy 😁

I’m a sucker for the sweet and innocent guy being seduced/loved/rescued by the bad boy (sums up a few of your stories). Also enjoy the bedroom Dom/sub relationships, like at the end of the Erl King or in Drakon. Also… knotting. I’m turning red as I write this.

  8. Scarlet July 26, 2016 at 11:20 pm #

Definitely am a total die hard fan of abused, shy virgin boy who gets thrown into a magical world of “oh snap they want your bod and here enters a hot, over agressive smexy guy”. A bottom who is frail and weak and a top who is strong and hooootttt. I love kidnap stories.

But, hands down. If I could choose ANY story for you to write it would be a revamp of fairy tales. Like your red riding hood one but it’s a world of fairy tales!! Then you can branch off into different couples and it would fun and cute and everyone loves fairy tales!! Ohhhh, like the bottom is sad and shy and teased in school and he always reads fairy tales to make himself happy. Then one day he helps an old woman or something like that and gets a book. She says to only read it when he is torn down and beaten, when he thinks he could not live longer. So he staches it in bookshelf, not thinking much of it till one day the bullies really mess him up. He’s feeling down and upset and wants to hurt hinself. So he turns towards the book. He starts to read a random story in the book and he starts to cry. As the tears hit the book something happens and BAM. In magical fairy tale world. Yessss. That would be so cooooool!!!

I’ve been on a superhero kick recently. I know they were kind of covered in The Lightless in a sort of toned-down, antihero X-men sort of way, but I’d really love to see brightly colored costumes, over the top action, and to have a minority person who isn’t just your typical gay boy protagonist but is bi or Pansexual or Aromantic or Asexual or Transgender would be really cool. Maybe a person with ADHD or Autism could save the hero’s life at some point? I’d love to see that. I’d also be excited for a film-noir, shelockian, or Criminal Minds-style Crime drama. Because ever since watching Scooby Doo, I’ve always loved a good mystery.
Finally, steampunk would be neat to see, because it’s pretty open-ended. You could set it in pseudo Victorian Europe, the Old West, Industrial Age Asia/Middle East, Or a mix of them all with Airship Pirates and the like. For me, a big part of Steampunk is the Mad Science element. So having a scientist or an experiment as the protagonist is a must for me to really enjoy a series, no matter what land they are from.
I hope this helps and that you find something that inspires you!

Well…I’m a sucker for courting…you know old school courting, but maybe twisted a bit. But something with specific rules and guidelines. Also different species/creatures. Something different that werewolves or vampires. Something that truly had a different culture. Maybe some sort of genetic metamorphosis (kind of like in the Merman but different). Mates are good, but not destined or fate, choosing is always better.

I recently discovered the wonderful world of Alpha/Beta/Omega dynamics in fanfiction, and have found myself addicted.

If I were to have an original story in this universe, I would like to see (okay, this is probably going to be very un-original) a Pride & Prejudice-style story. But, given the way A/B/O dynamics work, we can have the Darcy-character end up with a male Omega. It doesn’t have to be a re-write in the way that Pride & Prejudice and Zombies is, just something set in Regency era with all the rules of societal propriety, but have heats and ruts.

Omgosh! Someone else that would like an ABO story! I didn’t see your post til now!(went a bit on a tangent below) I was a little worried bout mentioning it at all but I glad someone else has he same “kinks” in mind 🙂 Also, I totally agree with you I can see Rayth doing so seriously amazing work in the realm of ABO 🙂

My absolute fave is the Merman story (audio) and the story that decided my membership was the Dark Earth story and art. There was another, the Darkening, that included an angel and rock band which I could not put down until it was done – it consumed me for days. What I really like about all of these is that there is a novice and there is a hero. Loved the angel wings. Loved the elves. Love the sea. OK that doesn’t narrow much down but I hope it helps!

  13. Raine July 26, 2016 at 11:36 pm #

Hmmm… I love stories that tend to have more unique characters, ones that play off of each other well ( like Nate and Emrys, my favorites!) Different realms hidden in this one is always fun. I love shifters and stories that contain gods or god-like creatures are great. I’m always a sucker for super sappy romance (they don’t have to write poems, but really show how much the other means to them, and be all cute together).

  14. TibsTales July 26, 2016 at 11:38 pm #

    I am such a stereotype.

I LOVE bad boys with big hearts. But not the misunderstood good guy that everyone thinks is bad – a true honest to well, goodness – villain that is snarky and glib. Who does bad things and is not ashamed of it. My best examples of this is Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Robert Carlyle’s Rumpelstiltskin. I get breathless with how true to themselves they are and are very much in your face with everyone who would disagree with them.

To see one of these guys melt for some (comparatively) innocent in such a way that they are compelled to not completely change who they (the bad guy) are, but so that they move heaven and hell (sometimes at the same time) to shelter and protect their innocent. This is SO awesome.

And to be the innocent and have your personal ethics and morals challenged in the name of love . . .

Raythe has had 2-3 stories that started from this premise – The Erl King, The Darkening and Ghost: Neo-Tokyo. But for me these all fell flat because, accept for a certain Erl King/The Artifact crossover/side story, the bad guy nature of the Seme was never put center stage or challenged by anyone in the stories.

Not that I don’t LOVE almost all of Raythe’s stories – but this would be the starting framework of my “dream” story.

    • DarkNari August 1, 2016 at 1:23 pm #

I agree that would be awesome! I would also like to see steampunk and more space opera. Not that I didn’t like the Abyss, I loved it, but they didn’t go out and explore. Having more than one established alien species would be great.

  15. moonbaby06 July 26, 2016 at 11:44 pm #

I don’t usually leave comments but this was too hard to resist!
I’m sort of the odd ball that wants to see an Alpha Beta Omega Dynamics (ABO) story.
There isn’t much out there in terms of original ABO or Mpreg and for the real good stories/fan fiction writers usually stop shortly after the announcement of the pregnancy never really fleshing out the characters as they change/grow for the upcoming baby. Also most ABO stories I’ve come across are shifter type stories, I really would like to see something out of the norm!
“I would love to read a modern fantasy / sci fi story that has magical beings but plain regular humans as well that because of the recent discovery of magical beings in the past 1000 years or so that the human race has evolved/adapted to help keep the human race as well as minor races (like the elves in winter haven) from dying out. Male omegas are rare and are shunned because it’s not “normal” but because humans have messed with the human body this is a biproduct of it.” Where it goes from there I believe Raythe could weave into an amazing story 🙂

I would love to see you continue something with the Kinverse, maybe carrying on from your Seran Balthasar. God he had mystique…. I would love to know more about him

My dream story? *points at all RR books*
Also, plenty of good suggestions above in the comments!!

I’m also a sucker for Hurt/Comfort: take a hero, hurt him REALLY BAD, and then have his beloved comfort him and take care of him <3

And I'd love another story in space or in a sci-fi future!!

  18. Stephanie July 27, 2016 at 12:24 am #

I enjoy space, futuristic. Maybe an alien with tentacles? Love a self lubricating male, older, younger pairing. Maybe an alien that somehow is compatible with the Abyss characters, somehow older yet more innocent? The main thing I enjoy is an equal part sex and story. I just reread The Pact parts one and two, and started Valkrie, I enjoy how much sex there is as much as the story line. Not the will they or won’t they, make the angst something besides the sex. Though that aspect worked in The Abyss. Love all of Raythe’s work, thank you!

  19. Farspacix July 27, 2016 at 12:25 am #

I would love one that has the two mains in a real risk scenario, probably with some sort of long term kidnapping type of thing. Not with a weak character that’s been kidnapped, someone that is paranormal, new to their powers, and overwhelmed. But they are a fighter and trying to get out. Equally, the hero is strong and has to infiltrate the people who have them to save this person. Would be easy to set in the universe of Miskatonic, with someone from that university being sent in to help rescue a supernatural being, but at the same time that supernatural being not being broken and trying like hell to get out. That sort of high stress situation would be pretty awesome. I always imagined that was what would happen in Merman when the initial kidnapping occurred, that they would get him away and keep him in a tank for a long damn time and he would have to fight his way out…..that would be so fascinating! So, yeah, pretty much something where the two mains are stuck in a situation where all those around them are against them and they can even be stuck playing roles where the infiltrator and kidnappee have to contemplate how far to go to get out……that could be fun, tension filled, and hot!

Two or more muscled, smooth stunners who, thinking they are doms, find they can be and need to be receptive to each other as they struggle to survive, to love and to be free in a Greco-Roman, Egyptian, or futuristic syfi environment in which very little clothing is required.

  21. Susie Mcbride July 27, 2016 at 1:03 am #

I would love a story about a young man that has been abused emotionally/physically and the man that had loved him for generations but only finally found him again comes to rescue him from the horror his so-called loving family has put him thru his entire life. Only to find out they were not really his family but the hero’s enemies who figured out who the young man’s soul would be reborn as..

  22. SamTheSlob July 27, 2016 at 1:07 am #

I want more fluff before the ruff, honestly. I’d like a slow burner, filled with a playful relationship that builds over a period of time. The supernatural/magical aspect should be played down in the beginning, but grows more and more relevant to the story as you grow to care for the characters more and more. Any setting , but I’m not interested in mafia/illegal based stuff unless it’s a historic setting, like Prohibition.

  23. Julie July 27, 2016 at 1:45 am #

If were going for just a series for Raythe to continue I would really REALLY love for a continuation to Price for Passage. Like seriously. That story was so short and left on such a huge cliff hanger. I would love to see it revisited.

As far as new stories go…I would love something tied into reincarnation! I just love the idea of two souls being intertwined and when you finally die agreeing to see each other and do it all over again next time. The idea of people so in love that it spans generations and that allows to personalities to fir together. It makes me smile 🙂

  24. Samantha July 27, 2016 at 1:56 am #

Would love to read about main character getting thrown into different world. Ex: main character (archaeologists son) falls and ends up in a temple and that takes him to a different world where strange creatures exist and he meets the love of his life there.

    I’d enjoy anything!

I still can’t stop myself from having this egocentric feeling that your stories were written just for me to read—I’ve enjoyed them that much. They satisfy a craving that nothing else would. One I’ve had for years.

I’ll admit that I’m sucker for romance, action, suspense, and fantasy. But it’s your obsession with good versus evil—and all the gray in between—that makes me truly love them. The supernatural elements fuel this theme in ways that are philosophically stimulating, setting these stories far apart from the typical ones that only use fantasy to aid action and suspense. All this and steamy sex scenes that are loyal to the rest of the work—it’s a rare but highly desired combination.

Personally, I’d love to see characters who show more vulnerability. Specifically, in some type of dom/sub dynamic. And I’d also love a new universe—like maybe a scifi virtual reality one where virtual reality is completely immersive and has practically replaced “real” life.

Whatever the next story is about—I’m excited because I know it’ll be good! Thanks for asking the community!

  26. Fara July 27, 2016 at 2:00 am #

Seers/mediums of any sort. I love the psychically suffering types. I’d also love to see more of a polyamorous story, or the “big tough guy” being a bottom, or a romantic set who don’t fit the “top/bottom” pattern, whether that’s an asexual romantic couple, all the way to just a couple who switch. Or threesome. Or foursome. I really hate love triangles that only exist because for some arbitrary reason, the person in the middle “has” to choose. Not a fan of incest, yes I do skip those stories. I take delight in almost any setting, except time-travel stories, which I find frustrating.

I won’t tell you my exact “dream story” though, because I’m writing those myself!

  27. NauticonJack July 27, 2016 at 2:18 am #

I LOVE The Fell/Erl King, Crimson, Merman, Valkyrie, Dark Earth. Would really love to be immortal like Ethan/Alric (Fell), or Liam (Valkyrie) and to have a little brother as my lover would be awesome!

  28. JDove July 27, 2016 at 3:31 am #

I would like a story about a haunted mansion or castle. The main character falls for the ghost while trying to help the ghost move on. Maybe solve the mystery of how he died. The hero has the power to touch ghosts (so we can have some loving in the story).

  29. Veronica M July 27, 2016 at 3:57 am #

How about one with Nymphs. I haven’t read a story about that race yet and I bet you could come up with an amazing story about them 😍😊

  30. Saphire July 27, 2016 at 4:44 am #

The stories are already really good, but mixing things up once in a while would be interesting. Most of Raythe’s stories start with one character either being human or thinking they are and then falling in love with someone who is already supernatural, and then they become supernatural as well during the story. It’s not bad, but it does start to get a bit repetitive after a while.

I think it would be cool if the main couple were both already some kind of supernatural creature when the story starts, and they’re aware of it and can access their abilities. It would be even better if they were two different kinds of creatures that didn’t really know much about each other.

I just had an idea, imagine a vampire finding their way into the Dark Earth and falling in love with an elf, now that would be interesting. Something tells me that elves would be a bit harder to hypnotize than humans XD At lest the sun wouldn’t be a problem.

  31. susi July 27, 2016 at 5:43 am #

I have stories that I keep for years and I’m dreaming about ever night.
But unfortunately they are a little bit sad, because the boys in there have a hard live and they stand on the unlucky side of live – but they are strong and fight on their own until they can be free.

But I love it to raid the kind of stories with a fairytale. two mans get together and fight for their love and get children etc.
A little bit action, a little bit crime and love are my favourite stories.

Especially when the storie is special. I have a kind of licking for mpreg. And I love the regelence-series from J.L.Langley. A whole planet where is pretty normal that man and man get together, will marry and get childrens. On this planet are man and woman marriage kind of an alienthing and I love it so much 🙂
That’s my favourite stuff. When man and man relationships focused without the bitter taste of religion. In my fantasy isn’t place for church and their bad stuff

  32. CarolineMcc July 27, 2016 at 6:14 am #

What would I like to see in a book or would love to read over and over again, is a big bad Yuki that is tamed by a sophisticated and stern Seme. Maybe the Yuki is a Yakuza or a hard CEO who is in creditable jaded by what he does and how he looks. Like Feilong for Viewfinder by Ayano Yamane. Not one that is unsure of himself, but one that the Seme has to break down and tame. It would be good if it was kind for like how you did Scott and Jorden’s relationship in the first Erl-King book, but with more fight and disobedience.

  33. Jay July 27, 2016 at 6:47 am #

My dream story… Now that’s a hard one. My dream story is one that I some day want to write and publish. But the m/m story that I really want to read ( and still can’t find anything like) is of two demons, you know, hot bishies, long hair, etc. But the different thing to me is that at the beginning of the story they have already had a past relationship with each other, and over time gone their separate ways. The story would be of them getting to know each other (and get together) all over again side by side fast-passed, exciting action. Much like the action/adventure in the Abyss, but without the space stuff and technology, more like weaving through the human and demon world and getting deep in the psychology of people and how even the worst are more than two dimensional. I also would want an antagonist that you really want to love and hate at the same time. One of those people you can really relate to, and yet you know is mostly evil. I say ‘mostly’ because no one in this story can be entirely good or evil. They’re people, not dolls after all.

I’m a sucker for any genre (Sci-fi, High/Urban Fantasy, etc.) but give any of these a large sprinkle of historical (made up or no) and I go weak in the knees!

My one favourite trope is that of a feisty (or not*) character getting thrown into a completely new world (usually through time travel, but any big cultural shock is the love here). My love with Historical settings is self-explanatory here, I suppose. Think resourceful Claire in Outlander or innocent Daenerys Targaryen* thrown into the culture of the Dothraki people. Let them find love in this unlikely place <3

  36. Mylillys July 27, 2016 at 7:38 am #

I see many responses that I like but none my weirdness added so I’ll throw in a bit of what I would LOVE to read: I love everything about a good M/P hurt main character but I would like it to be a quite shy and seemingly sweet boy who everyone thinks is a bottom but turns out he is super messed up in the head and a power top he likes a boy who is also a top but ( I would prefer if it was brotherx brother *twins!!!!* bit that may be too much for some) forcibly converts him. Add some pain a little rope play ;). BUT the main character finally starts to belive in love and the love finalay gets to top because main trust him now and they find a somewhat even ground even tho main sometimes needs to forcibly have control he trust him enough to give himself to hI’m knowing he loves him.

Please make me something along these lines!!!!♡♡♡♡

    • Mylillys July 27, 2016 at 7:39 am #

Throw in anything fantasy or syfi or unworldly and it would be 10000000 times better!

  37. Natasha July 27, 2016 at 8:39 am #

This is just an idea that I’ve been trying with for a couple days but what about a story with a shape shifting unicorn who is both innocent and naive who tends to attract the attention of the wrong type of people often. And to match him to someone who’s demonic in nature and a bit cruel but changes as they get til know the uke. Something similar to cursed in that aspect please.

  38. Deb July 27, 2016 at 9:38 am #

Since discovering the Alpha/Beta/Omega stories I have loved reading them, however, I am disappointed in most as they don’t seem to finish the story well and leave the story at the Omega being pregnant. I would love to see Rayne do a story along these lines but continue the story on with the baby arriving and how it effects the dynamics of the relationships.

  39. Janie July 27, 2016 at 11:37 am #

I love a great survivalist story. Like something involving the zombie apocalypse where one hero is just the ultimate survivor. Like he has mad skills to survive in that harsh environment, maybe even like a “bio-engineered” soldier made to survive and protect in that type of world. And he falls in love with the type of guy that would never have survived without him but they find that they both really need each other in different ways. I like the fast paced action with a touch or horror mixed in with moments of sweetness this kind of story can bring.

  40. amaterashu July 27, 2016 at 11:59 am #

Pirates, I love pirate stories! Especially those where pirates are depicted more on the realistic side. To me pirates were never good guys and will never be good guys, that’s why it’s sometimes annoying to read a pirate story where the pirates do next to no pirating or have really pure moral code making them basically just unlucky sailors pursued by authorities.

I also love fey stories. I’m more partial to dark fey/unseelie stories than light fey stories. Dark earth/Erl-king are somewhat about fay since elfs/side are counted as fey but not really.

  41. ArtemisArrow July 27, 2016 at 1:40 pm #

I adore fantasy (particularly elves) and sci-fi. Love a bit of magic and mystery. The Dark Earth, Abyss, Cursed and The Merman are my most favourite of your series. I tend to prefer it when the romantic leads are equals, at least physically, rather than one of them being too small and girly. On the other hand I avoid anything with incest or rape, those things squick me out bad.

  42. Buddhaali July 27, 2016 at 2:27 pm #

Am I allowed to have two? Or three? So many of the ideas above are fascinating, and mine are closely aligned with many of Raythe’s fans…

    1. Some normal guy, a hung-over idiot and stubborn, opens the wrong kind of door in the wrong type of house and gets sucked into another world. He’s lost, alone and trying to survive, but also making new discoveries about the various species that exist out there in this alien place, and eventually he meets the local sentient life in an advanced “peaceful civilization” with a god king that happens to find him fantastic. In fact the psychic abilities that the king uses both allow him near ultimate power (telekinesis to move mountains, hurrah!) but cause him horrible pain and loneliness, as he’s been trapped in that role (of protector for his people at the cost of his health/education/friendships) since infancy. Reaching out to the human stranger in a strange land with his mind gives him hope and a reason to fight the status quo. Invading armies, doors that open and take our semi-hero back to earth unexpectedly, and alien magical mind drama unfolds, but these two do end up happy. Well, as happy as a 6 foot man can be loving a four-limbed green-skinned telepathic alien king that is over 7 feet tall? The sex was pretty epic in my head. Tails are sexy as hell.

    2. A man remembers his imaginary friend as a child during a counseling visit, and starts dreaming about him again as an adult, only to realize that both of them are real people, and have missed 15 years of each other’s lives. They set out to meet each other in the real world and there are obstacles of all kinds (one is American, the other is Russian, but we all speak the same language in dreams, right?) In one sequence there’s some disaster / attack and through the dream the sleepers tell one another about it, seeking help, one pulls the other to them, in a real-world teleportation. There are obviously physical consequences to that (pain, sickness, and a lack of passports, oh my). But they fall in love and overcome the odds.

    3. Child is left on an abandoned (and alien tech filled) world to keep him safe (heir to a fortune, or son of a king, important bartering piece in politics or something like that) with only machines to keep him company. So, of course he makes intelligent AI robots that take on a “life of their own” and have …needs? I’m not talking harem, just companionship and eventually a physical need as the child becomes a man, and becomes a better inventor/craftsman. Very much a coming of age and also sexual fantasy made synthetic flesh. Do you love me for how I look? Am I more than the sum of my parts, when you can replace all the parts inside me? Are we equal or am I a slave? Do I have a mind, if you can switch it off or change it for me? kind of questions ensue, and reality in the form of the parents/dignitaries, invading aliens and other society cause for a rough ride for these lovers. Oh they make it work, don’t worry.

    4. I have always loved the idea of misunderstood first impressions – a being so big and strong as to be scary assumed that an initial reaction of fear means there’s no hope for any kind of affection to grow in time. Very beauty and beast-like, but in all honesty it doesn’t require that both parties even be human at all. One story I told myself involved a species of beast-cat people who live in the jungles beyond a wall manned by winged avian men, and one warrior on the wall strikes up a friendship with the physically larger cats due to being in the wrong place at the right time – with hilarious repercussions. There are misunderstandings, but as both are strong, independently minded adults they have a lot of sex to work out their problems. …and also solve a conspiracy, infiltrate an evil plan to destroy their world as they know it, and learn about their shared cultural histories… its all very sweet. But at the core of the story is the idea that smallness does not mean young and weak, nor does it naturally make you submissive in any way, nor does it mean that a bigger person must hamstring himself to keep his friends safe from him. There’s a lot of self-hate in the cat-man and he takes a long time to get over it. I suppose its partly why I loved the absolute SHIT out of the Erl King stories… oh the wolf drama.

    5. Someone above suggested a djinn (genie in a lamp) story, and I am absolutely in LOVE with the mythos behind the 1001 Arabian Nights stories, or any desert or jungle romance set in the past of fantasy stories from the Victorian ages. We’ve been settled in modern cities for most of Raythe Reign (or space ships…) and it would be fun to get out and see the world, with all its natural dangers. I will now be singing songs from Disney’s Aladdin all day and its all your fault. Not gonna lie, there are so many extremely hot men out in the world who are “minorities” and Raythe has done such amazing things with Asian characters and cities. It would be simply steamy as heck to see her take on someone from Ancient Constantinople going off to explore / raid ruins for buried treasure, who stumbles upon more than he bargained for, of course. Again, my bread and butter are strong leads who aren’t lessened or forced to change who they are intrinsically by love, two people that can duke it out as equals from the get-go but win using wits and compassion, rather than a punch to the nose. Though there can totally be that, too! Scimitars can happen! Naga snake people can totally happen! Adventures and curses and evil viziers and dangerous escapes can totally happen. They are… what makes a good story a story and not straight porn with a backdrop of culture. Tho that can happen too, and be delicious. The really important thing would be to have the research done right to make the setting believably not “America with American ideas and food styles and doors and clothing” but instead a truly middle-eastern feel, with believable foods, smells, sounds, costumes and eating styles and cultural habits, even if homosexuality is dangerous there now… that wasn’t always strictly the case. That bit of reality adds SO MUCH to a story, it just makes or breaks it for me.

Sigh. I ended up with five and don’t even get me started with some of the super hero or dragon rider fan fiction I have in my head…

Personally, I prefer hard sci-fi. Solar system colonization or early interstellar expansion, nuclear-pulse engines, ships where every gram counted and NO STEALTH IN SPACE! More like “harder” (in therm of science) “Star Trek” setting, where the exploration&defense work of small, isolated crew of spaceship and their internal relations is in the center of plot.

But no psychic powers, sexy aliens and such stuff!

    • Buddhaali July 27, 2016 at 4:38 pm #

      Alexey, no sexy aliens???
      The horror!

Speaking of hard-core science fiction though, check out “The Expanse” as it has amazing characters and pretty cool science involved. Warning: some horror elements. Sadly, no gay love. But science!

I would love, really really love, to see more gay men in a believable future-space. I can live and dream. And until then, I can read good books. And wish Nathan Fillion was gay. He is my captain.

      • Alexey Shiro July 28, 2016 at 3:55 pm #

Oh yeah, “The Expanse” is awesome! It’s hardest sci-fi series that came on screens since “Firefly”, IMHO – and the author of initial novel series knew the space stuff quite good. No gay love, of course, is unfortunate – but on the other case, this gave other authors the window of opportunites)

        • Buddhaali July 28, 2016 at 10:02 pm #

Hey, did you know that the authors of the Expanse books (it’s written a pair of people that go by one pen name) actually wrote some of the episodes for the tv show themselves? Most notably episode 7 where she goes to meet his mother. Argghhhh, so good but its so long to wait for the next season in 2017. I’m thrilled to learn there’s another sci-fi nerd out here!

          • Alexey Shiro July 29, 2016 at 4:10 am #

No, frankly I never heard of this. Thanks for the data!

            Same for me)

Oh there are so many, so very, very many.

A futuristic story where there is uneasy peace and wars between Earth (which is a unified government, probably a democracy) and a militaristic Martian Empire (as-similar to the Roman Empire), where two from opposite sides – possibly even childhood friends – fall in love. Similar in a broader sense to Romeo and Juliet, but still drastically different.

A Fallen Angel and/or Demon story, where God has long vanished and Heaven (a debatable concept) is held by Angels that rule with a iron fist, the son of a FA or Demon or both is foretold to usurp the tyranny of Heaven. He falls in love with a powerful Devil.

A superhuman or shapeshifter story where they are being repressed by humanity, kind of a “next stage of evolution” bit.

A story set on info from the Mythical age, either Greece or Egypt, etc.

In the case of the former, a modern day story where a boy is the son of Zeus that is foretold to overthrow him – either as the literal son of Metis or by the fact Metis has since fused with Zeus, and the Gods (not all, given not all of the Greek Gods are lacking in compassion) are hunting him down.

Speaking of Gods, what about a story centered on Flynn’s dad?

Agh, there are too many different ideas! But as ever my ideas and aid are at your disposal!

I really enjoy stories where the guys are both maybe not the best type of people, like assassin/thief or some kind of criminal backgrounds and find love together, even if it’s not something they’d think they deserve.

And then of course the drama that comes along with being criminals etc.

I’ve got an itch for timetravel story. Guy A goes back to kill mguy B for so and so reason like they are to powerful and are gonna go down the wrong path. So guy A has to kill him but has to get close to him to do it and they fall in love. Like he can’t risk activating guy B’s power in an all out assault. So what’s more important duty or love?
Plus a twist like guy A trying to kill guyB is what made him evil in the first timeline?
Or guy B has powers he didn’t know about whatever.
No incest there is already a ton.
And of course something with a bad guy trying to recruit guy A or something. I love more equal pairing like Nate and entry’s that feed off of each other. Like Nate and emrys. Less Dom/ sub it’s nice but there is already tons of it. I would like a more equal relationship where there can be switchers and have snarky fun.

I really want a interracial couple between a young black boy and a white man. Perhaps being in the same universe as Cole, Ethan, and Aidan. And who has his own mystical power.

I blush when I say this, but I’m really attracted to mpreg fiction. It’s fun and touching to see two men go through the troubles and miracles of having a child together. I can see so many different scenarios and kids between established characters in the Raythe universe!

I also like a story where the alpha male who is lonely or abused and needs the kindness of a rich and kind omega who needs him as well to get him through. Many of Raythe stories focus on the younger poor omega being cinderella-fide by a much wealthier man. I love all the stories that she writes; just a little suggestion of a reversal of fortunes for the couple.

I love the Ghost universe, and feel more could be written about it. Much as the pairing would make me overjoyed, I think Freyr and Rei are just not going to be. Rei definitely needs someone, so maybe the next Ghost story could be for Rei and his mysterious other. It might be a chance to tie the Winter Haven and Ghost story lines together, since there has been a hint or two of that happening.

I love anything on RR, my dream story deals with a person entering our world. Kind of like Merman and Date A Vampire, but even more seperated, for instance the character is from a whole other world. Excepet, the person has no understanding of our world. They end up relying on someone to guide them through our world and romance and shenanigans ensue. The story would have a more comedic style, dealing with cultural misunderstandings, unfamiliar surroundings and creatures. I liked the idea a person posted of a more magical concept, like a genie, or wizard.

Personally, I’d love to read something with a steampunk setting to it. It’s always been one of my favorite genres and has the advantage of feeling both ‘historical’ and ‘futuristic’ at the same time, which not many other genres can lay claim too. Also, the mental imagery tends to be stunning, at least for me!

I love being drawn into the world of the supernatural. Vampire’s, werewolves, ect. I also like the futuristic type genres. I have a little rp group and two of my favorite OC’s are Assassin’s and I LOVE diving head first into their world; being wealthy, refined and devilishly handsome :p so a love story between two hardened killers, or hardened killer falls for a target (one of the OC’s dynamics in my rp) I think I’d love to read. I just finished the first installment of Cursed and I LOVED it 🙂

I was thinking: Three rich brothers are at their father’s bedside. The king is dying. The three princes are told that they will be king if they go on a journet. So the three princes(Two are totally into themselves. They are sent on a quest to find and to bring back the most rare and beautifull thing in this world. They have one year to find this object. The first finds a pendant that makes people tell the truth, no matter what they are asked. The second prince comes back with a magical axe that can chop through any object, and always hits its intended target if thrown. On the very last day, the third brother shows up wearing nothing but ratty clothes. He explains that he got robbed and raped, and left at the side of the road to die, but a kind but very poor farmer carries the princes body back to his farm. He had little food, but enought for two to get by, and the fell in love. The prince proclaims that the farmer is the most beautiful thing. He isn’t the best dressed, and he may not be the best looking, but he represents “true love”. In the end, true love wins in the end, but the third prince decides that all he wants is to go back to the life where he has been for the most of the past year.
…Something like that, where we find that all that matters is true love(And LOTS Of Sex Of Course…lol). You could write a trilogy of sexcapades, one book each from each of the princes’s views.

I know that mpreg is not your thing but there would be a good retelling of Rapunzel story. Because the witch finds out about the prince because Rapunzel gets pregnant.
