How Date A Vampire & Sanctuary Intersect

ornament1Master Vampire Viscount Lucien Valammar awakens in the vampire safe house of Winter Haven, kept by his good friend Gregoire.  Though Lucien’s lover died over 200 years ago, it was literally only yesterday to the grieving, romantic vampire.

His modernity-loving friend has kept current with the times and created a website, Date A, which allows modern vampires to find companionship and the possibility of true mates.  Determined to drag Lucien into the modern age, Gregoire has already created a profile for his friend…

ornament1Milo Stevens has always felt like he belonged in a the past — romantically, at least.  He believes in slow courtship, sweet dates, hand-holding, and poetry.  But when his boyfriend, fed up with Milo’s old-fashioned ways, dumps him for someone faster moving, Milo’s best friend, paranormal-loving journalist TT, jumps to his rescue.

She signs him up for this site called Date A in the hopes that he will find a lover who is better matched for his old-fashioned ways, but also so that she can do a little investigation of her own!

One of the fun things for both Raythe as a writer and the Members as readers is how many of the stories connect. DAV is in the same world as Sanctuary!DAV-sample3

That means that characters we’ve all come to love like the Nomad, Demetrius and Alex can and will show up in the manga. It also means that we get to learn more about the world of vampires in DAV that we might not see in the serials.  For example …

In Sanctuary and in DAV, not every human can become a vampire.  Because of this, a Vampire Law was enacted: only humans on the verge of death could be turned.  Even then, most died.  For millennia there was no answers to why that is. Until now.

DAV-sample1Gregoire is convinced he knows the answer.  He believes that the humans that can be turned come out of a certain bloodline, which he calls the “Primordial Bloodline.”  With this knowledge, humans that come from the Primordial Bloodline could be turned at the height of their beauty instead of waiting and, potentially, losing them to full death due to accidents or disease.

Milo appears to be part of this bloodline …But its not just Milo that will be affected by Gregoire’s discovery.  The other vampires will become obsessed with knowing who is of the bloodline and will be determined to possess them.

You can imagine how this will play out in this world. Or rather, you won’t have to imagine, because more stories will build off of it!

Okay going by the basis of “Primordial Bloodlines” that either means that Alex received it from his mother’s side of the family or its Argyris bloodline. Which is somewhat debatable as Argyris are bred to stay in the family bloodline.
This makes me wonder if Alex’s mother was as human as she believed herself to be. And as for the turning before death part…well, vampires love to have power so this could prove to be a start point before a war.

Alex is a different kettle of fish because he was never fully human to begin with. This is just about humans. Though if vampires realized that Argyris could change … Interesting ideas, no?

I love that any written story could be made into a manga like ‘Dark Earth’ and any manga could give us another view of existing worlds/characters as in ‘The Hunt’ (not just my beloved Jordan♥, but Alric and Ethan too). Beautiful art as always, and a story that gets better with every page. =D

I admit that is a lot of fun for me. Imagining what it would look like in manga form is so cool.

Its an interesting point: If the older generation wants more foot soldiers, sure, they’d pursue the “bloodline” genetic descendants in order to ensure successful younglings, but how soon before rival vampire houses start slaughtering families under their protection to ensure that no one else’s house gets too many members? The balance of power must be maintained, right? Or on the flip-side the ancient vampires could decide to kidnap all the known members who carry that particular genetic variation and set up forced breeding programs, in order to maximize the number of new vampires for their “kiss” or group.

*shudder* The implications are – well – monstrous. I suppose its a little cold-blooded and Machiavellian, but that goes hand-in-hand with the whole undying bloodsuckers thing.

To return to an earlier evil doing evil things in the Sanctuary Story – the Groughan house was the one that “made” Babbette for the purposes of pedophilia, right? That guaranteed-vampire-turn baby farm idea might be right up their alley.

Anyone watched the Underworld movie series recently? The noir turn of thought seems to fit right in here!

First I want to say, I LOVE Date A!! I don’t comment it nearly as often as I should, but really I enjoy every page a lot!! 🙂 TT is just awesome!! She’s so cute when she’s excited, and she’s like excited all the time!! She’s like a bright sun, who could make anyone smile. I love her energy ^^
The dynamics between Milo and TT, and between Lucien and Gregoire are really great. It’s a pleasure to read every page <3

I also love that we're learning more about vampires, and that we'll get to meet our beloved vampires from Sanctuary!!

About the poll – I love both manga versions of existing stories and original manga, but I have a preference for original manga I think 🙂 That way we can discover new things, new characters, new stories. Also when I read a novel I imagine everything in my head, and then when there is a manga of it, it looks different… which is awesome (especially with Mathia's or T.Wolv's art!), we get to have illustrations of every little scene we love!!! But can also be frustrating sometimes because it's never the same feeling as when I was imagining the scenes in my head haha ^^

It’s never as good as it is in your head! Though I can say that the art has actually informed how I think of the characters to the point that I don’t remember what I thought they would be before! Your enthusiasm and comments always make me smile.

sorry to bother you, but I so enjoy reading / occasionally taking part in the discussion with each new chapter…

This is the only comment section that i can access right now, so I apologize and thanks!

Email tech support @ Raythe reign dot com and Jeremy will help you. We did update some stuff but nothing that should effect the comment sections.

      • Keith January 27, 2016 at 4:22 pm #

        Jeremy fixed it already 😉

To the person who posted the comment in the poll that’s not on point though we appreciate the feedback.

Just so the correct information is out there, here is what you get on the site:

    (1) First you get 50k minimum new words a month. That’s 2 chapters of each story that is continuing to update. Not one chapter. Considering the size of most m/m books that is a book a month.

    (2) You also get 16 manga pages a month in addition to the 6 completed manga on the site.

    (3) Then you get nearly 20 completed serials in the archive. Is that only 20 completed book lengths novels? No. It is at least the equivalent of 100 books based upon the sheer size of them.

Plus you get all 5 completed Merman books.

    All for $9.95.

I think what you get and the value of it speaks for itself.

I removed the answer because it was not relevant to the poll, which will be ongoing on our site until I decide to replace it with something else. In case anyone feels hurt about having the response culled, here’s it is in full:

“I am not a full member, but I am currently not joining because the stories in which we have to choose from are recieved only like once a week for example, where I like to read an actual book like I am doing with “The Merman Saga”, or at VERY LEAST have the ebook form available for download in your store for entire novels, NOT just one chapter at a time.”
